History
Point Pleasant Plumsteadville EMS was formed January 1,1998 by the merger of two ambulance units from
Point Pleasant Fire Company and Plumsteadville Volunteer
Fire Company. The two separate organizations had been
offering volunteer ambulance service in their respective
areas since the 1950s.
On July 1, 2000, we began to offer Advanced Life
Support (ALS). In order for us to do this, we are required by
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to staff our ambulance
with a paramedic, a person who is certified to provide
advanced medical care in the field, along with an emergency
medical technician (EMT). The Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania requires this staffing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
